Twilight is an upcoming 2008 romantic-fantasy film directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. The film stars Kristen Stewart as a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire, played by Robert Pattinson. The project was in development for approximately three years before it was put into pre-production by Summit Entertainment. The novel was adapted for the screen by Melissa Rosenberg in the autumn of 2007, shortly before the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike. The film was primarily shot in Oregon during the winter and spring of 2008. Twilight will be released domestically on November 21, 2008. The soundtrack was released on November 4, 2008.

There, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious classmate, Edward Cullen, who is revealed to be a 108-year-old vampire who is physically seventeen. Although Edward discourages the romance at first, they soon fall deeply in love. 007 Quantum Of Solace

007 Quantum Of Solace - Official Theatrical Trailer

Quantum of Solace (2008) is the 22nd James Bond film by EON Productions, released in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2008 and in North America on 14 November. The direct sequel to the 2006 film Casino Royale, it is directed by Marc Forster, and features Daniel Craig's second performance as James Bond. In the film, Bond battles Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a member of the Quantum organisation posing as an environmentalist, who intends to stage a coup d'état in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd, and is assisted by Camille Montes (Olga Kurylenko).
Producer Michael G. Wilson created the film's plot while Casino Royale was shooting. Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis and Joshua Zetumer contributed to the script. The title was chosen from a 1960 short story in Ian Fleming's For Your Eyes Only, though the film does not contain any elements of the original story. Location filming took place in Panama, Chile, Italy and Austria, while interior sets were built and filmed at Pinewood Studios. Forster aimed to make a modern film that also featured classic cinema motifs: an antique aeroplane was used for a dogfight sequence, and Dennis Gassner's set designs are reminiscent of Ken Adam's work on several early Bond films. Taking a course away from the usual Bond villains, Forster rejected any grotesque appearance for the character Dominic Greene to emphasize the hidden and secret nature of the film's (and society's) modern day corporate villains.

Plot
The film continues one hour after the events of Casino Royale with Bond, having inexpicably changed into another suit than the one he was wearing at the end of Casino Royale, driving from Lake Garda to Siena, Italy — with the captured Mr White in the boot of his car — when he is attacked by chasing henchmen. After evading his pursuers, Bond and M interrogate White regarding his organisation, Quantum. M's trusted bodyguard Craig Mitchell is revealed as a traitor, allowing White to escape; Bond chases Mitchell across Siena, through the crowd assembled for the Palio di Siena, and kills him. After forensic investigations involving tracked banknotes, Bond heads to Haiti to find Mitchell's contact, Edmund Slate, and kills him. He then poses as him, learning Slate was sent to kill Camille Montes at the behest of her partner, Dominic Greene, the ruthless chairman of Greene Planet and a member of Quantum. Bond pursues her by motorbike and watches her meet with Greene, learning the businessman is helping General Medrano to stage a coup d'état in Bolivia in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of desert land.
Greene has Camille escorted away on Medrano's boat to "sweeten" their deal. Bond commandeers his own boat to rescue her (though she is unwilling) and leaves her in local care. Bond follows Greene, through the mobile of Greene's henchman Elvis, to his private jet, which flies him to Austria. He is accompanied by CIA agents Gregg Beam and Felix Leiter; the United States will support the coup with promises to Bolivian oil. Members of Quantum gather at a performance of Tosca at Lake Constance, Austria to finalize plans for their Tierra Project, with each member communicating through special earpieces concealed in gift bags. Among the plotters is Guy Haines, an advisor of the British Prime Minister. Bond obtains an earpiece and disrupts the meeting. He then sends MI6 mobile photos of various Quantum members as they flee the arena. As Greene abruptly departs from the opera, he is intercepted by Bond and a gunfight ensues in a restaurant. Bond confronts a bodyguard of Haines on a rooftop, and defeats him in the ensuing struggle. Without the slightest remorse Bond allows him to fall off the roof and onto the bonnet of Greene's vehicle. Greene recognises that the bodyguard is not a Quantum member and has him killed.
Believing Bond has killed a British agent in Special Branch, M has 007's passports and credit cards revoked and demands he return to London. Bond is still able to travel to Italy by boat, where he reunites with his old ally René Mathis, who now lives in a hilltop villa awarded to him by MI6 as compensation. Both immediately relocate their efforts to La Paz, Bolivia. They are greeted by Fields, an MI6 field operative from the British Consulate. Although she explains Bond must return to the UK on the next available flight, he disobeys and seduces her in their hotel suite. That night, they attend a fund raiser being held by Greene, where Camille reappears. They leave together and are pursued by the Bolivian police. Upon stopping, they immediately ask Bond to open the boot, where a beaten Mathis was planted by the police. As Bond picks Mathis up from the boot, the policemen open fire and fatally injure Mathis. Bond disarms and kills the policemen and comforts the dying Mathis, who asks Bond to forgive Vesper Lynd, and forgive himself for what happened to her.
Bond and Camille drive to the location of Greene's intended land acquisition, surveying the area in a rented Douglas DC-3 propeller plane. They are intercepted and shot down by a fighter plane and helicopter. Before crashing, both Bond and Camille jump from the crippled plane and then parachute into a sink hole. There, the duo discover Greene's Tierra Project does not involve oil, but he has been blockading supplies of fresh water, hidden in underground rivers. Bond also learns that Camille's family was raped and murdered by Medrano and that she is seeking revenge. After these revelations, they return to La Paz, where Bond meets M and discovers Quantum murdered Fields by symbolically drowning her in oil. M orders Bond to disarm and end his activities in Bolivia, but he escapes by overpowering MI6 operatives accompanying him in a lift. After this escape, Bond encounters and speaks to M, stating he is not finished with his operation.
Bond meets his CIA ally Felix Leiter at a local bar, who informs Bond of where Greene is set to complete his deal with Medrano. Bond flees when CIA Special Activities Division forces arrive to eliminate him as a threat to their deal with Greene for a share of alleged oil supplies in Bolivia. Bond and Camille go to an eco-hotel powered by hydrogen fuel cells, located in the Bolivian desert, where Greene is finalising the coup. As the various parties depart, Bond attacks and kills the departing Colonel of Police for betraying Mathis, and sets off a chain of explosions when a hydrogen fuel tank is destroyed. Camille kills Medrano, and Bond captures Greene. After interrogating him, he leaves Greene stranded in the middle of the desert with only a can of motor oil. Bond and Camille drive to a train station, where they finally kiss before she departs.
Bond goes to Kazan, Russia, where he confronts Vesper Lynd's former lover, Yusef. Yusef is a member of Quantum who specialises in seducing high-ranking women who have valuable connections, to get them to give up government assets as ransom for himself in fake kidnappings where he is supposedly held hostage. He is attempting to do the same with Canadian agent Corinne Venneau. But Bond tells Corinne about Vesper, and he has her alert the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Later, Bond leaves Yusef's apartment and is confronted by M who is surprised that Bond did not kill Yusef, but rather left him alive for questioning. M reveals that Leiter has been promoted at the CIA to replace Beam, and Greene was found in the desert, shot dead, and with motor oil in his stomach. M fully reinstates Bond as an MI6 agent, and he leaves, aware that Mr White and the rest of Quantum are still on the loose. Finally able to forgive Vesper, 007 drops the necklace, which had been given to her by Yusef, in the snow.

Changeling

Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood team up for 'Changeling'

Changeling is a 2008 American period thriller directed by Clint Eastwood and written by J. Michael Straczynski. The film begins in 1928 Los Angeles and tells the true story of a woman who recognizes that the boy returned to her after a kidnapping is not her son. After confronting the city authorities, she is vilified as an unfit mother and branded delusional. The events were related to the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders, a kidnapping and murder case that was uncovered in 1928. Changeling explores themes such as disempowerment of women and corruption in political hierarchies. The film was made by Imagine Entertainment and Malpaso Productions for Universal Pictures. Ron Howard was to direct, but a scheduling conflict led to his replacement by Eastwood. Howard and Imagine partner Brian Grazer produced, alongside Malpaso's Robert Lorenz and Eastwood.
Straczynski was told of the case by a contact at Los Angeles City Hall. He spent a year researching it through archived city records before writing the script, most of which was taken from the historical record. The shooting script was not changed from Straczynski's first draft and was his first produced film screenplay. Principal photography began on October 15, 2007 and was completed in November 2007. Filming took place in Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. Visual effects were used to supplement shots with skylines, backdrops and digital extras. Eastwood's noted economical directing style extended to Changeling's shoot; actors and members of the crew remarked upon the calmness of the set and the short working days.
Angelina Jolie was cast in the lead partly because Eastwood felt her face fit the period setting. Several actors had campaigned for the part. Jeffrey Donovan, John Malkovich, Jason Butler Harner, Amy Ryan, Michael Kelly, and Colm Feore also featured. Most of the characters were based on their real life counterparts, while some were composites. Changeling premiered at the 61st Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2008, where it was met with critical acclaim. It had its North American premiere on October 4, 2008 at the 46th New York Film Festival, and was released wide in North American theaters on October 31, 2008 after a limited release that began on October 24, 2008. It will be released in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland on November 28, 2008. Changeling's wide release was met with a more mixed response than at Cannes. The acting and story were largely praised, with criticism focusing on its conventional presentation and lack of nuance.

Plot summary
In 1928 Los Angeles, single mother Christine Collins (Jolie) returns home one day to discover her nine-year-old son, Walter (Griffith), is missing. Reverend Gustav Briegleb (Malkovich) publicizes Christine's plight and rails against the Los Angeles Police Department for its incompetence, corruption and the extrajudicial punishment meted by its "Gun Squad", led by Police Chief James E. Davis (Feore). Several months later, Christine is told that her son has been found alive. A public reunion is organized by police, who believe that the positive publicity will negate recent criticism of the department. When Christine sees "Walter" (Conti) she doesn't recognize him. Captain Jones (Donovan) pressures a confused Christine into taking the boy home "on a trial basis".
After Christine confronts Jones with physical discrepancies between "Walter" and her son, Jones has a doctor visit her. He tells Christine that "Walter" is shorter because trauma has shrunk his spine, and pressures neighborhood children and an adult neighbor with poor eyesight into identifying the boy as Walter. A newspaper story appears that implies Christine is an unfit mother. Christine meets with Briegleb, who tells her the story was planted by police to discredit her. He also tells her of the corruption rife in the department, and of the Gun Squad's despotic rule over the city's streets. Walter's teacher and dentist give Christine signed letters confirming that "Walter" is an impostor. Christine arranges a press conference during which she tells her story. At Jones' order, Christine is taken to Los Angeles County Hospital's psychopathic ward. Christine is befriended by inmate Carol Dexter (Ryan), who tells Christine she is one of several women who were imprisoned for challenging police authority. Dr. Steele (O'Hare) deems Christine delusional and forces her to take mood-regulating pills. Steele says he will release Christine if she admits she was mistaken about "Walter". She refuses.
Detective Ybarra (Kelly) is called to a ranch at Wineville, Riverside County to arrange a boy's deportation to Canada. Ybarra discovers 15-year-old Sanford Clark. The boy's cousin, Gordon Northcott (Harner), has fled after being unwittingly alerted by Ybarra to his visit. Northcott steals a truck after killing its driver. Clark tells Ybarra that Northcott forced him to assist in kidnapping and murdering approximately twenty children. Clark identifies Walter as one of them. Jones tells Briegleb that Christine is in protective custody following a mental breakdown. Jones orders Clark deported, but Ybarra makes Clark reveal the murder site. Briegleb secures Christine's release by showing Steele a newspaper that details the Wineville killings and names Walter as a possible victim. "Walter" reveals his motive was to secure transportation to Los Angeles to see his favorite actor. Northcott is captured in Vancouver, Canada. Christine has an attorney (Pierson) secure a court order to release the women unfairly imprisoned by police.
On the day of the city council's hearing into the case, Christine and Briegleb flee police who they believe want to prevent her testifying. Outside Los Angeles City Hall they encounter thousands of protestors who are demanding answers from the city. The hearing is intercut with scenes from Northcott's trial. The council concludes that Jones and Davis should be removed from duty, and that extrajudicial interments by police must be reviewed. Northcott is found guilty of murder and is sentenced to death by hanging. Two years later, Christine has not given up her search for Walter. She is told that Northcott is willing to admit killing Walter on condition that Christine meets with him before his execution. Northcott then refuses to tell her whether or not he killed her son, and he is executed the next day. In 1935, David Clay—one of the boys assumed to have been killed—is found alive. He reveals that one of the boys with whom he was imprisoned was Walter. David, Walter and another boy escaped, but were separated. David doesn't know whether Walter was recaptured, giving Christine hope that he is alive.

The Joy of Watching Classic Movies

Classic movies are different from old movies. There are old movies that are not considered classic. However, most classic movies are old movies.

Usually, people think of a classic movie as an old movie. Most people consider a classic movie as that having black and white color, uninteresting scenes, and dirty pictures. But a classic movie is more than that. Being a classic means that a movie is already a favorite of all generations and have survived the test of time. Whoever or in whatever year it may be watched, people will still appreciate it. That's the beauty and power of a classic movie. It has a staying power because it can relate to everyone regardless of age and time. Other term that may be synonymous to classic is timeless.

Finding Higher Joy Watching Classic Movies

Aside from great actors and great plots, classic movies also boast the beauty they have that modern movies don't. One of the most obvious is the slower pace of scenes in classic movies. To some, this may be so boring because people who are used to watch modern films expect quick and fast-pace scenes. But that's actually the beauty of classic movies. You have to wait and see what will happen and you'll never regret you hold on until you saw the next thing.

Also, you may get annoyed with a black and white or low-colored classic film. Well, that's another beauty of classic films-you can watch them as if you are in a time travel. You can see the technology then and compare it to the technology now. You'll surely see a lot of development in the movie industry once you watched classic movies.

Classic movies are also considered artful documentation of the past. Some classic movies might feature breaking of the civil rights or women's rights. Although you or some kids did not see the development in civil rights, you can surely appreciate how people fought for it. Some classic films feature civil rights violations while some may just show you how the things work before the civil rights.

Also, if you have a favorite director, why not watch some classic films he directed before? You'll surely see his old style and how it evolved now. You can try some classic directors like Curtiz, Hawks, or Hitchcock. You will certainly see that movies are not only beautiful because of great scripts and artists but of great directors too.

Aside from the director, you can also watch films where Al Pacino, Katharine Hepburn, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, or Robert De Niro became stars. You will surely be amazed of how they look, how they act, and how they changed from what they were some decades ago.

Some Classic Movies for a Family

With the many classic movies available nowadays, how can you ever start watching the kind that you and your family will surely like? It's easy when you have a list of critically acclaimed or top-grosser films. Here are some of the movies you can try that you and your family will surely like:

- Fantasia. This was released in 1940 but until now, it can gain satisfaction from many movie viewers. Kids will surely enjoy the classical melodies and the beauty of this animated film.

- The Wizard of Oz. Released in 1939, this is one of the classic films that provided joy to children of every generation. This is a story about a girl and her dog when they get lost in a certain place. To go back to their home, they need the help of the Wizard of Oz.

- Mary Poppins. This movie, released in 1964, will give you classic songs that will make you remember the past. Children will also enjoy singing along with the movie's songs and its scenes.

- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. An earlier version of this was released in 1971. The most recent remake of this movie was a sure success. You and your kids might have watched that. Why not watch the older film too?

- E.T. The Extraterrestrial. This Sci-Fi drama was released in 1982 and made a lot of kids and adults cry. This is a story about an alien who befriended a boy. Children will surely learn some lessons about life and friendship with this film.

The list of great classic movies is definitely endless. You can still find other titles that will best suit the taste of your family. What's important is that you know how to appreciate the classic movies despite the old looks they have. Anyway, what's important with movies is not the technology they have but the lessons that children and even adults can get from them.

Saw V : Preview

Saw V is the fifth installment in the Saw film series. The film was released on October 23, 2008 in Australia, and October 24 in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom. Saw V was directed by David Hackl, unlike the previous three installments which were directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. Hackl was the production designer of Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV, and second-unit director for Saw III and Saw IV.

A man named Seth (Joris Jarsky) is in a trap which has a pendulum blade suspended above his body. Seth was a murderer released early from a life sentence on a technicality. He is told to push buttons inside of two devices, his hands will be crushed but the pendulum will be stopped. Reluctantly he does push the buttons but the pendulum descends upon him regardless and cuts him in two, meaning the trap was inescapable, and therefore not one that had been set by Jigsaw (Tobin Bell).
In a scene from the end of Saw IV Agent Strahm (Scott Paterson) enters the room where Jigsaw died and shoots Jeff Reinhart (Angus Macfadyen) dead in self-defence. Seconds later, someone locks the door on Strahm. He exits through a secret door, and finds a recorder. The recording warns him he can find salvation or die in the room, and urges him to make the right choice. He disregards it and is attacked by a figure in a pig mask. He wakes up in one of Jigsaw's traps and finds his head in a sealed box, which quickly starts to fill with water. Before he runs out of air, he performs a tracheotomy with the tube of a ballpoint pen. The police make it to the Gideon warehouse, and Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) emerges carrying Corbett Reinhart (Niamh Wilson), claiming that he saved her. Strahm is carried out on a stretcher alive but badly injured. The Chief of Police announces that the Jigsaw murders are over. Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) is given a videotape and box from John's lawyer. The contents of the box, says John, are of grave importance to her. After looking in the box, Jill leaves without telling John's lawyer what's inside.
Agent Perez (Athena Karkanis) dies from her wounds sustained from a Jigsaw trap in Saw IV, and Strahm tells Hoffman that her last words were his name. Strahm returns to his office and begins to investigate all of the victims linked to Jigsaw, discovering that Seth murdered Hoffman's sister and theorizing that the trap for Seth was made by Hoffman. Strahm guesses that Jigsaw used this fact to blackmail Hoffman into helping him, and in flashback we see Hoffman help Jigsaw set up Paul Stallberg (Mike Butters) in the razor wire trap in Saw, set up the gas house in Saw II, and talk with Jigsaw before leaving him with Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Amanda (Shawnee Smith) in Saw III.
Five people wake up in a sewer, in a trap connecting all five to guillotine blades, keys are in glass boxes at the other end of the room. Mallick (Greg Bryk) gets anxious and runs ahead, starting the timer. Charles (Carlo Rota) pulls the cord causing Mallick to fall to the ground. Mallick pulls the cable hard causing Ashley's (Laura Gordon) cable to pull her back. The timer runs out and Ashley is beheaded.
Charles, Mallick, Luba (Meagan Good) and Brit (Julie Benz) go through to the next room, which bombs are in the corners and they need to smash jars and find keys to enter bomb shelters before a bomb goes off in the sewer. Charles smashes all the jars after assaulting Mallick, he is about to enter his shelter when Luba hits him with a pole. The trio enter the shelters and Charles is blown up. Luba, Mallick, and Brit go through to the next room, they have to find a way to complete a circuit to open the door to the next test, but the cords they need to connect to a bath full of water are not long enough. Brit stabs Luba, then Mallick and Brit connect the wires and use her body to complete the circuit. The door opens to their final test.
For the final test they have to fill a beaker with ten pints of blood to open the final door. The traps have circular saws in and with no other options, Brit and Mallick begin sawing their hands in an attempt to fill the beaker with their blood. While this is happening Hoffman plants Strahm's cell phone at the house where the game is being held to frame him as Jigsaw's accomplice. As Brit and Mallick fill the beaker, Stahm's boss Erickson (Mark Rolston) makes it to the scene. Both pass out from blood loss as Erickson calls for backup.
FBI agent Erickson, having found the Jigsaw files Strahm took and his cell phone, issues an APB on Strahm, assuming him to be the other Jigsaw accomplice. Strahm follows Hoffman to the location of the current game, and enters a room with a transparent box filled with broken glass and a recording. It urges Strahm to have trust and to get into the box. He'll be hurt, but still has a chance at life. Hoffman walks into the room and Strahm ambushes him and pushes him into the glass box. The walls begins to close in on the room as the glass box lowers into the floor, safe from the enclosing walls. Strahm is slowly crushed by the walls while Hoffman watches from down below.
